Why Old Cypress?

The Story Behind the Cypress

What Makes Cypress So Special

Native to the southeastern United States, cypress trees thrive in the wetlands, riverbeds, and bayous of the South - especially across the Mississippi Delta.

These towering giants are naturally saturated with oils that make the wood resistant to rot, insects, and decay.

That’s why it’s been trusted for centuries in barns, riverboats, plantation homes, and churches.

Cypress is not just strong - it’s stunning.

Its golden hues, subtle grain, and soft patina over time make it ideal for design projects that need warmth, durability, and character.

Fun Fact: Many of the cypress boards we reclaim were originally cut over 100 years ago.

That means the tree itself could’ve started growing in the early 1800s - or earlier.

Reclaimed Cypress: Durable, Distinct, and Proven

What makes our reclaimed cypress different from fresh-cut lumber?

Time.

Each piece has already endured decades of heat, humidity, and use - and it’s still rock solid.

That natural aging process brings out grain patterns, rich color variation, and the kind of surface texture you can’t replicate in a mill.

You’ll notice:

• Deep browns, warm golds, and silvery patina

• Nail holes, saw marks, and natural wear

• Boards that are straighter, more stable, and full of character

Whether you’re creating an accent wall, fireplace mantel, barn door, or ceiling, reclaimed cypress adds a level of soul that new wood just can’t touch.
